Inclusive education and neurodiversity storytelling through video production
Surfr works closely with Southport Learning Trust, providing ongoing video production, videography and photography services across its family of schools. The Trust is united by a simple but powerful mission: “Empowering our communities to positively impact the world.”
For this project, we were tasked with creating a short film that would bring that message to life through real stories from students, staff and communities across the Trust.
Rather than relying on scripted interviews or staged scenarios, we focused on authentic moments taking place within the schools every day. We captured students from Maghull High School supporting local food banks, Meols Cop students performing at a local care home, fundraising initiatives led by Kew Woods and Greenbank, Bedford Primary School’s commitment to inclusivity, and Formby Range High School students helping to protect their local environment by clearing litter from Formby Beach.
Over two days of filming, our Southport videography team travelled across Southport, Birkdale, Formby and the surrounding area, capturing both the individual stories and the communities they positively impact. Filming locations included iconic Southport landmarks such as Lord Street, Southport Pier, Haig Avenue and Formby Beach, alongside local businesses and community organisations including Tappers Café and Sunningdale Nursing Home.
The resulting film combined these individual acts of kindness into a single narrative, demonstrating how small actions can create a lasting impact across an entire community. By focusing on real people and genuine stories, the video helped communicate the Trust’s values in a way that was engaging, authentic and memorable.
As a Southport video company, we believe the most powerful stories are often found close to home. This project perfectly demonstrates how professional videography and video production can help organisations share their message, celebrate their communities and inspire positive change.
