Surfr Media was approached to produce a cinematic television commercial for the ‘Win Christmas’ competition – a festive campaign designed to capture the excitement, emotion and magic of Christmas while showcasing the wide range of prizes available to entrants. The brief was not simply to display the prizes themselves, but to create a memorable story-driven advert that embodied the feeling of Christmas and connected emotionally with audiences across the UK.
From the earliest stages of development, the production was approached as a full-scale commercial campaign. Our team handled every aspect of the creative process in-house, including concept development, script writing, storyboarding, casting, location scouting, production design, lighting, audio, visual effects, hair and make-up, props and costume design. The challenge was made even more ambitious by the fact that the majority of the advert was set on Christmas Eve in the middle of winter – despite filming taking place in July during the height of summer. From festive set dressing and atmospheric lighting through to real reindeer appearances and detailed costume work, the production transformed summer locations into a believable Christmas world filled with warmth, wonder and nostalgia.
Across two intensive production days, filming took place in three separate locations using a combination of cinematic camera movement, dramatic lighting and carefully crafted production design to create a premium television advert with genuine festive atmosphere.
We assembled an incredible cast and crew featuring performers of all ages, including excited children, Santa Claus, elves and supporting family characters, alongside a highly skilled production team of camera operators, make-up artists, set designers, lighting technicians and sound engineers who helped bring the story to life.
The finished campaign was delivered in multiple formats to maximise reach across television, web and social media platforms. Alongside the full-length hero film used on the competition website, we produced a range of shorter edits tailored for digital marketing and social media advertising, as well as two separate 30-second television commercials delivered to Sky for national broadcast. The adverts aired for several weeks in the lead-up to Christmas and were broadcast to hundreds of thousands of homes across the United Kingdom.
Combining cinematic storytelling, festive production design and multi-platform commercial content creation, the ‘Win Christmas’ campaign showcased Surfr Media’s ability to deliver large-scale creative productions designed to engage audiences across television, digital and social channels alike.
